A pair of effective orthotics must realign the STJ to the perfect neutral position and rebalance plantar pressure points, with 100% contact between the bottom of the foot and the top of the orthotics. This is a very difficult objective to meet because several errors commonly occur during casting in the office and during fabrication in the orthotic lab.
However, the above objective is reproducible with high accuracy using Dr. Nguyen’s in-shoe STJ-neutral casting technique and an aerospace-grade fiberglass composite material that accurately reproduces the plantar aspect of the foot point-to-point in three dimensions and hardens into a rigid orthotic shell within 15 minutes.
Dr. Nguyen’s orthotic-making process eliminates all human errors, making it more accurate and simpler.
Custom-made accommodations make orthotic therapy more effective. Fortunately, all accommodations are possible in the P.O.L. custom orthotics, either as built-in features or as easily fabricated items in the office. Metatarsal pads, heel spur accommodations, and flat heel posts are available as built-in features. Additional accommodations, such as cut-outs under the metatarsal heads, Morton/Reverse Morton extensions, and metatarsal bars, are custom-fabricated items that doctors or medical assistants can make quickly and easily in their office.
The P.O.L. Orthotics features a customizable, medical-grade fiberglass composite orthotic shell sandwiched between a soft top cover and a more rigid EVA bottom layer. Once activated with water, the POL orthotic will retain the shape of the wearer's foot permanently.
